Gunman Who Targeted NFL Cited Grievances Over Football-Connected Brain Disease
Shortly after Shane Tamura was identified as the shooter at the NFL's Park Avenue headquarters building in New York on Monday, investigators found a clue that spoke to his potential motive. Tamura wrote in a note that he believed he had chronic traumatic encephalopathy, commonly known as CTE, a brain disease associated with head injuries and often found in former football players.

New York City authorities respond to report of shooting at midtown building that houses NFL

NEW YORK — Authorities in New York City are responding to a report of a shooting at a midtown office building that houses some of the country's top financial firms and the National Football League. The Fire Department of New York says emergency crews were called to the Park Avenue office building Monday evening for a report of someone shot. A spokesperson said the call came in around 6:30 p.m. but provided no other details. Police provided no additional information. Mayor Eric Adams posted on social media that there was an 'active shooter investigation' in midtown. He urged people to stay indoors and take safety precautions if they're in the area. New Yorkers: there is an active shooter investigation taking place in Midtown right now. FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino said in a social media post that agents and other bureau personnel were responding to provide support to what he said was an 'active crime scene.'
